Aurora have reversed the result of their opening match at Thunderpick World Championship 2026. Their 2–0 win over 9z on 16 October sends them into the semifinals against FURIA and ends 9z’s run.

The Group A decider began with a close 13–11 win for Aurora on their Cache pick. They then won 9z’s Inferno pick 13–4, leaving Mirage unplayed. A tight opening map had become a much clearer series result.

The coach still sees work to do

In his post-match HLTV interview, Aurora coach ash described nervous play and poor communication on Cache, followed by a better performance on Inferno. He stressed the need for greater consistency. His assessment gives useful context to a scoreline that could otherwise look straightforward.

The match record shows kyxsan finishing with 33 kills and 20 deaths across both maps, while Wicadia recorded 36 kills and 28 deaths. Those figures describe individual output; they do not resolve the consistency issues raised by the coach.

A third consecutive top-four finish

Aurora have now secured another top-four placing after finishing second at StarSeries and third at ESL Pro League. FURIA await in the semifinal on 17 October. The rematch has kept Aurora in contention, but their next opponent will test whether they can sustain that recovery.
