CS2 adds silent reloads, but they take longer

Valve also changes Premier map selection and introduces the 3v3 Rush mode.

CS2 players can now hold the reload key to reload silently. Valve released the change on the morning of 23 September, Malaysia time, with a trade-off: the quieter reload takes longer.

Leaving a sniper scope is now silent too. Together, these changes give players new decisions about sound and timing. A slower reload may be useful when staying hidden matters, but leaves more time for an opponent to push.

Premier picks four maps, then draws one

Premier now has each team choose two maps. The first team picks one, the second picks two, then the first makes its final selection. One of those four maps is randomly chosen for the match.

Valve says the change is intended to give players more opportunities to use maps they have practised. The announcement describes Premier matchmaking; it does not announce a new veto format for professional tournaments.

Rush brings a separate 3v3 option

The new queued mode sends teams through randomly selected arenas towards the opposing castle. It offers a smaller-team format to try alongside the update. The effect of silent reloads on professional play still needs match evidence.
