ESL announced on 1 October that IEM Cologne 2027 will feature eight playoff teams and a central 360° stage at LANXESS Arena. The full tournament is scheduled for 4–15 August 2027.

The arena playoffs will run for four days in single elimination. Two additional contenders reach the main stage, adding two quarter-finals to the live programme.

How teams reach the expanded playoffs

HLTV reports that Stage 1 sends eight of its 16 teams into Stage 2, where eight directly invited teams join them. Two groups then produce four playoff qualifiers each.

Series are best-of-three, except the best-of-five grand final. The losing semi-finalists will play for third place before the title match.

The first ticket wave opens this month

HLTV lists the first ticket release for 15 October 2026. Check the official event listing for ticket details before booking.
