LGD Gaming and 1win secured the final two playoff places at BLAST Slam VIII. Each recovered from losing the opening game to win their Last Chance series 2-1, according to Field Level Media.

LGD eliminated GamerLegion, while 1win knocked out OG. Both winning teams had to take the final two games to keep their tournament campaigns alive.

Six teams reach Malta

They join PARIVISION, Team Spirit, Aurora and Team Yandex in the six-team LAN field. Under BLAST’s revised format, the four group winners qualified directly, while the runners-up had to contest the two remaining places.

PARIVISION beat Aurora 2-0 in their seeding match, and Team Spirit defeated Team Yandex 2-1. The seeding winners receive byes into the upper-bracket semi-finals, giving them a shorter route through the opening round.

Check the updated playoff dates

BLAST’s rulebook, updated on 23 September, schedules the LAN playoffs for 9-11 October. That differs from the earlier July announcement, which listed 8-11 October. This article follows the newer rulebook; check BLAST’s live schedule before watching.
