Paper Rex lost 0-2 to LOUD in the upper-bracket quarterfinals of VALORANT Champions Shanghai on 7 October. Split ended 9-13 and Sunset 13-15.

PRX led 8-4 at halftime on Split but won just one round after the switch. Their 9-3 advantage on Sunset also disappeared, with LOUD taking the map in overtime.

PRX still have a route through the lower bracket

The defeat sends PRX into the lower bracket, where they are scheduled to face T1 on 9 October. Another series loss would end their tournament.

Riot uses double elimination for the eight-team playoffs. Most series are best of three, with the lower final and grand final played as best of five. That format keeps PRX in the competition after this opening defeat.

LOUD move on to NRG

NRG beat T1 2-0 in the other opening quarterfinal. LOUD and NRG are scheduled to meet in the upper semifinals on 10 October, while PRX and T1 must first fight to stay in Shanghai.
