SRG reach 8–1 in MPL MY S18 as Team Rey rematch approaches

Selangor Red Giants finished Week 5 of MPL Malaysia Season 18 with eight series wins and one defeat after beating Bigetron MY by VIT 2–0 on 11 September and RRQ Tora 2–1 the following day. Those two results keep SRG at the top of the table heading into Week 6.

The official standings checked on 15 September list SRG’s game record at 17–4. Their closest pursuers, Team Rey, are second at 6–3 in series and 13–7 in games. Both teams have played nine series, leaving a two-win gap before their next meeting.

Three straight wins since the RRQ defeat

The win over RRQ reverses the result of their first meeting on 4 September, when RRQ won 2–1. SRG have since beaten Vamos, Bigetron and RRQ in succession, taking six games and losing one across those three series.

That sequence gives the league leaders a useful response to their only series defeat so far. It also leaves the season’s two SRG–RRQ meetings level at one series apiece, with both encounters requiring a deciding third game.

Team Rey meeting closes Week 6

SRG next face AC Esports on 19 September at 8:15 pm, followed by Team Rey on 20 September at 5 pm. Rey play Team Flash on 18 September at 5 pm, so both of the current top two have another result to settle before they meet.

SRG won their first series against Rey 2–0 on 16 August. Rey enter the new week after a mixed Week 5: a 0–2 loss to Invictus Gaming on 11 September followed by a 2–0 win over Vamos on 12 September.

Their rematch is the final fixture listed for Week 6. The official calendar marks an Asian Games break from 21 September to 4 October, with Week 7 matches starting on 8 October. The regular season runs until 18 October.
