Yandex sweep NAVI 3–0 to win PGL Wallachia Season 9
A clean grand final ends NAVI’s lower-bracket run in Bucharest.
Team Yandex won PGL Wallachia Season 9 on 27 September, beating Natus Vincere 3–0 in the grand final. Field Level Media reports that the three Dota 2 games lasted 25, 44 and 27 minutes.
The sweep came after NAVI beat LGD Gaming 2–1 to secure the remaining final berth. NAVI could not carry that result into a game win against Yandex.
Two different routes to the final
Yandex reached the title match through the upper bracket, defeating 1w Team, Aurora Gaming and LGD Gaming. NAVI’s lower-bracket route took them past Team Nemesis, Aurora, Xtreme Gaming and LGD, according to Players.
The tournament ran from 19 to 27 September at PGL Studios in Bucharest. Its 16 teams began in a Swiss stage before the double-elimination playoffs, with a best-of-five grand final.
How the prize money was divided
PGL allocated US$300,000 to the champion and US$175,000 to the runner-up from the US$1 million pool. LGD’s third place was worth US$120,000, while Team Nemesis finished in the seventh-to-eighth-place band, worth US$40,000 per team.
